Finding a Niche is important for your success. There’s no question about it. Nevertheless, it’s not hard to do. This post will explain what is a good niche and how to find one for your site.
What is a Niche?
A Niche is a market and its subcategory. Anything can be a niche. Pets products are a niche. However, it may be too broad. Food products for Australian Shepherds would be a better niche.
What is a Good Niche you may ask. A good Niche should contain two main things: You’re in love with your niche; and your niche is narrow enough.
You’re in love with your niche:
This is important. There are many reasons you should choose a niche that you love
- Your niche should be something that you can talk about for a long time. Building a website and getting ranked can take time. A successful blogger spend their time writing posts consistently. If you want to achieve long-term success in an Internet Marketing Business, it is important to choose something that you can stick to for a while. As you keep building content, your site will attract more audience.
- We are in the business of helping people. I hope you’re creating your business not only for money, but also for helping people. When you love something, you want to learn about it. You won’t mind spending your time exploring and expanding your knowledge in every aspect of your niche. When you become an expert, you can help people. I believe you need to love something to be a master of it.
Your niche is narrow enough:
There are billions of people using the internet every year. Choosing a narrow niche has numerous advantages, especially for beginners.
- There are lots of competition in a wider niche. For example, if you choose pets products as your niche, you will have to compete against PetCo, PetSmart and PetSupplies, which are very heavy competitors. They’ve been in business for years. This can be hard to compete. On the other hand, if your niche is to serve busy moms with kids that own an Australian Shepherd, you have much less competitors and a much higher chance to win.
- Most successful people are known for one thing. From one thing, they become successful gradually and expand significantly. All successful companies are known for their one thing. Gary Keller, owner of the Kelly Williams, started learning about real estate when he was in college. From then, he became a broker. Then he moved to management. Then he became a CEO, then a business owner. Gradually, his company, Keller Williams, is the biggest real-estate firm in the U.S. It’s all because he started with his ONE Thing, his love in real estate. If you haven’t read the book: ONE Thing by Gary Keller, I recommend you to do so. It’s a great book for any entrepreneur. My point is, your business can grow and expand. But you should start with something smaller in the beginning.
Finding your niche is not hard if you look deep within yourself. Everyone loves something. There is a reason why you chose to become the person you are today. There must be something you love. If finding something you love is hard, try to think back when you were a kid. What did you love to do? What was your dream? Were you excited about something?
